Playing with Shadows

Saturday at Hanalei Bay

Taylor decided she wanted to rent a surf board and teach herself to surf. She did a great job. I couldn't catch all the waves she was able to ride out, but I was surprised she could stand. I tried it and it is hard to stand, takes alot of upper body strength. Taylor decided that is why surfer dude's are buff.

Friday's Road Trip

The Napali Coast is gorgeous! If you take the top two pictures and put the ocean pic to the left and the Mountain pic to the right and stuck them together, that is the whole picture of what we were looking at. We were at 4000 ft looking down. Again my camera can't do it justice.

Friday's Road Trip

The Canyon was completely clouded in when we got there, which is usual, but as we waited a little bit, the wind blew some of the clouds out and it was breathtaking. Pictures can never do the color and beauty justice. The underwater picture of the fish is about the best one I could get using our underwater camera, it is hard to find your subject with snorkeling gear on!

Queens Bath Hike

Queen's Bath is where the queen's would be taken to bathe. The hike is very steep and muddy and once you get to the rock cliffs the water is beautiful and treacherous. The sign says 28 people have died here, because they got too close to the edge or climbed too far down and the waves are extremely strong and unpredictable. Talk about beautiful and blue, blue water. We did see quite a few sea turtles swimming. I put a video up for you to look at.

We made it to Kauai!!

So we started driving from Lihue Airport into town and the girls are just laughing because all over Kauai are wild roosters and chickens. They were scattered during the 1992 hurricane and no one tried to claim them or gather them so they are everywhere just running wild. Now they have multiplied.

We went boogie boarding at Hanalei Bay Monday. It was fun in the sun, some rain, but they call the misty rain here liquid sunshine. It feels good! Today we did shops in Kapaa and went to Spouting Horn and the little shopping stands there. Tomorrow we are going snorkeling. Hope to find some turtles to swim with.

Taylor's Bday cupcake tree

Not bad for an amateur

Aloha

We are Hawaii bound tomorrow! Our whole family is going to Kauai and we are just a bit excited. We didn't think it was going to come to fruition, but thanks to my dedicated husband it did. I hope to be able to post pictures while we are there......if I can pull myself away from the beach.
